Afterglow Games privacy

Updated September 29, 2026

Afterglow is an iMessage game collection from Berger & Berger. You do not need an Afterglow account. There are no advertisements, analytics SDKs, or tracking.

Games and practice on your phone

Design choices, sound settings, game progress, and practice remain on your device. Cup Pong, Mancala, Four in a Row, and Dots & Boxes share turns through Apple's Messages service. Afterglow does not send your conversation text, contacts, email address, phone number, or Apple Account to our game server.

Burger Sammy live play

Creating or joining a live kitchen connects to our service hosted by Cloudflare. We temporarily store the room identifier, randomly generated credentials for each seat, recipes, assembled layers, ready status, moves, timestamps, and scores. Credentials are stored as hashes on the server. These records let both players start together, score consistently, and reconnect. Room credentials are scoped to one kitchen and are not linked to an account or used to identify you across kitchens.

Your partner receives your connection and ready status, score, completed-burger count, rematch request, the burger you are assembling on the rail, and your most recently plated burger and result. In versus mode, your target recipe, future burgers, and ingredient tray interactions are not shared. In co-op mode, both players share one target recipe, assembled burger and team score; accepted layers include which teammate placed them.

Rock Paper Scissors live play

Live duels use the same service and random credentials scoped to one room. We temporarily store your locked picks, round results, scores, connection status, and next-round and rematch requests. Your opponent cannot see your pick until both players have locked their choices. Resolved round results are shared so you can play and reconnect consistently.

Crazy Eights card games

Online card tables store the shuffled deck, private hands, current discard and suit, turns, results, and random room credentials. Your opponent receives only your hand size, public plays, connection status and rematch request. They do not receive your cards or the undealt deck. Messages cards contain a room invitation and public turn information, never a hand or deck. Card tables remain available for seven days after creation so you can take turns at different times, then their active records are deleted.

Soda Sprint

Online soda counters store five shared pour recipes, each player’s submitted hold durations, computed fill levels, round scores and rematch requests. A pour remains hidden from the other player until both finish that round. Random per-room credentials support reconnecting; counters expire after two hours. Solo practice stays on your phone.

Pocket Crew co-op

Live crews temporarily store the selected difficulty, shared challenges and deadlines, both players’ task progress and actions, team lives, results, ready status and rematch requests. Your teammate can see both tasks and your progress. Random hashed room credentials support reconnecting; crews expire after two hours. Solo practice uses a local assisted teammate and never connects to the service.

Retention and service providers

Active kitchens, crews, soda counters and duels expire two hours after creation and their live records are deleted. Cloudflare's recovery history may retain backup copies for up to 30 days. Cloudflare also processes network information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service. We use IP-based limits to prevent abuse and do not enable application request or gameplay logging.

Apple operates Messages, the App Store, and TestFlight under its own privacy terms. Cloudflare provides our live-game infrastructure under its privacy policy. We do not sell gameplay data or use it for advertising.

Your choices

All nine games offer local practice. Burger Sammy, Pocket Crew, Rock Paper Scissors, Crazy Eights and Soda Sprint practice do not connect to our live-game service. You can leave an online game by closing it; its server records expire automatically. Device settings and game progress can be removed by deleting Afterglow. Apple may retain previously sent Messages cards; manage those in Messages.
